Personal Info:

Efstratios F. Georgopoulos was born in Kalamata, in southwestern Greece, in 1973. In 1995 he graduated from the Department of Computer Engineering & Informatics, of the School of Engineering of the University of Patras. In the June of the year 2000 he completed his Ph.D. Thesis with title “Application of Genetic Algorithms for Artificial Neural Networks Optimization” in the Pattern Recognition Laboratory of the above department.

From 25/09/2000 until 25/08/2002 he served as Lieutenant (cadet officer) of Research and Informatics Corps of the Greek Army.

From 23rd of December 2003 until today, he serves at the Department of Agricultural Technology at the Technological Educational Institute of Peloponnese (Kalamata), currently, as full Professor of “Data Analysis, Modelling and Machine Learning”.

He has also worked as part time Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science of the Athens University of Economics and Business from March 2003 till February 2004. From October 2003 until July 2017, he was cooperating with the Hellenic Open University as a Tutor in a number of different modules, of graduate or post-graduate level, of the Computer Science Degree.

He is an author of a number of scientific articles in international journals, conference proceedings and book chapters. He has also written University teaching material and a text-book.

He has participated in a number of development and scientific projects at the University of Patras and T.E.I. of Peloponnese.

His research interests focus in the areas of Computational Intelligence, (especially Artificial Neural Networks and Evolutionary Algorithms), Machine Learning, Data Analysis, Mathematical Modelling, System Modelling, Signals and Systems, Time Series and Computational Finance.
